Do you love your specialty grocery stores? You’re not alone. Real estate website Zillow has found that living near a Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s may increase your property values. According to their research, “Between 1997 and 2014, homes near Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods were consistently worth more than the median U.S. home. By the end of 2014, homes within a mile of either store were worth more than twice as much as the median home in the rest of the country.”
So residents of Lakeview (or prospective residents of Lakeview) should take note: A new, expanded Lakeview Whole Foods will be opening on the corner of Lincoln, Ashland and Belmont in the spring of 2017, according to a Whole Foods press release. The site, which had previously been an abandoned mixed-use development, is already under construction. The new st0re will more than double the amount of space at the current Whole Foods location just a few blocks north. The current location contains about 31,500 square feet whereas the new Lakeview Whole Foods will contain 75,000 square feet, making it the second-largest Whole Foods in Chicago (behind the North/Clybourn location.)
All of this is good news for housing values in the neighborhood. So if you’re interested in finding out what’s available in West Lakeview right now, contact us! We’d be happy to give you a neighborhood market analysis and recommend the best options for you.
