In June, crews began demolishing the old Children’s Memorial Hospital site in Lincoln Park at the intersection of Lincoln and Fullerton. Now three months later, significant progress has been made to clear the land for the construction of two high-rise residential towers and a low-rise mixed-use area. Altogether, the project will bring 540 new rental units to the market, 60 new condos for sale, more than 1,000 parking spots and 160,000 square feet of retail, according to Curbed.

A recent update from the developer to residents of the neighborhood laid out what has been accomplished so far and what is in progress currently.

Already completed:

  • Building demolition is completed
  • Below-grade foundation removal has started
  • Perimeter scaffolding and wind screen have been removed
  • Temporary construction fence and wind screen are in place and will remain for the duration of the project
  • Interior environmental abatement will be completed within the next week
  • The concrete re-processing machine is now in use.

Next steps (scheduled to be completed in October):

  • Interior strip-out demolition will be completed as interior environmental abatement is done.
  • Structural demolition has started at the South end of phase 2 and will progress working from the south to the north; it follows the strip-out demolition.
